Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery and Conflict of Interest Policy
The ethical standards everyone on DocGini is held to.
1. Purpose and scope
DocGini exists to make healthcare easier to reach and easier to trust. This Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery and Conflict of Interest Policy ("Code") sets the standards of behaviour we expect from everyone involved: MEDCONS staff and contractors, doctors, hospitals, clinics, physiotherapists, nurses, facility staff, vendors, and patients using the Service. It supports Section 14 of our Terms of Service.
2. Our values
- Patients first: the patient's wellbeing, dignity and choice come before commercial interests.
- Honesty: we say what is true, about ourselves, our qualifications and our fees.
- Respect: we treat everyone with courtesy, whatever their background.
- Confidentiality: we protect the information people trust us with.
- Accountability: we own our mistakes and put them right.
3. Standards for Providers
- Hold and keep current every licence and registration your work requires, and practise only within its scope.
- Represent your qualifications, experience, specialty, fees and availability truthfully.
- Obtain informed consent, explain options clearly, and respect a patient's right to decide.
- Recommend only tests, medicines and treatment that are clinically needed.
- Charge only the published fee, and give a receipt when asked.
- Keep accurate, timely records, and keep patient information confidential.
- Maintain professional boundaries, and take extra care with children, women patients, the elderly and anyone vulnerable. Home-visit Providers must carry identification and follow the home-care declaration they accepted at sign-up.
4. Standards for patients and families
- Give accurate information for your bookings and care.
- Keep appointments, or cancel in good time.
- Treat Providers and staff with courtesy. Abuse, threats and harassment are not tolerated.
- Do not seek medicines or certificates dishonestly.
5. Zero tolerance for bribery and corruption
No one acting on or for DocGini may offer, promise, give, ask for or accept a bribe, kickback or any other improper advantage, directly or through someone else. This includes:
- payments or gifts to get or reward referrals, bookings, better placement in search results or good reviews;
- commissions from pharmacies, laboratories, imaging centres or suppliers for sending patients to them;
- "speed money" or informal payments to jump the queue or get a service that should be free or standard;
- payments to public officials to obtain licences, approvals or favourable treatment;
- hiding a bribe as a donation, sponsorship, consultancy fee or travel.
This applies to everyone, everywhere, and is in addition to Pakistan's anti-corruption laws, including the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947 and the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
6. Gifts and hospitality
Small, occasional tokens of thanks, such as sweets or a modest meal, are acceptable if they are not cash, are not linked to any decision, and would not embarrass anyone if made public. Anything else must be declined. MEDCONS staff must record any gift or hospitality worth more than Rs. 5,000, and must never accept one from a Provider or vendor while a decision affecting them is pending.
7. Conflicts of interest
A conflict of interest arises when a personal, family or financial interest could influence, or appear to influence, a decision. Examples include a doctor referring patients to a laboratory they own, or a MEDCONS employee reviewing a complaint about a relative.
- Declare it: disclose real or potential conflicts as soon as you are aware of them. Providers should tell patients about any financial interest in a service they recommend.
- Step back: do not take part in a decision where you have a conflict.
- Record it: MEDCONS keeps a record of declared conflicts and how they were managed.
8. Fair treatment
We do not tolerate discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, sect, ethnicity, language, disability, age, social status or any other personal characteristic, nor harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment, in line with the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.
9. Speaking up
If you see or suspect a breach of this Code, report it to support@docgini.com or contact@medcons.pk. You may report anonymously. Reports are handled in confidence, and nobody who reports in good faith will suffer any disadvantage for doing so. Retaliation against a reporter is itself a serious breach of this Code.
10. Consequences
Breaches may lead to a warning, removal of content or listings, suspension or termination of accounts, contracts or employment, recovery of losses, and reporting to regulators such as the PMDC, the KP Healthcare Commission or the AHPC, or to law enforcement.
11. Changes to this Code
We review this Code at least once a year. Material changes will be notified in the same way as changes to the Terms of Service.
